A gritty gelding by Rocky Balboa for owners Marc Belanger and Stephane Beaudoin, the now 11-year-old Rocky Boy left the racetrack for the final time on Sunday (Nov. 22).

Beginning his career at the Hippodrome Quebec, Rocky Boy ground a living through the conditioned ranks at Rideau Carleton Raceway. As a three-year-old, the Jacques Beaudoin trainee hit a strong stride and shipped stateside to race on the Buffalo-Batavia circuit at the tracks’ highest level. But following the brief New York campaign, the gelding returned to Canada and raced the rest of his days at Rideau Carleton Raceway and 3R.

From 210 starts, Rocky Boy visited the winner’s circle on 30 occasions, with 33 second-place finishes and 40 third-place finishes. He earned $202,279 through his long career but ends his 2020 season winless in 22 starts.
