Bit Of Luck was a winner in going away fashion in Monday’s $8,500 Preferred 3 for horse and gelding pacers at The Raceway at Western Fair District.

With Colin Kelly at the controls, the 3-2 favourite got away fifth in the early going while Walter Mitty and Chocolate Swirl battled to the quarter pole in :28. Chocolate Swirl eventually worked to the top, and he proceeded to lead the group to the mid-way point in :57.3.

Mr Mach Jimmy came first-over on the way to the half, and Bit Of Luck was tripping out behind him. Mr Mach Jimmy brushed to the front and went on to take the field to the three-quarter pole in 1:26.3. Bit Of Luck was left first-over, but he kept on digging and used a :29.3 closing quarter to win by 2-1/4 lengths over Brocks Fortune in 1:56.2. Easton Beach took home the show dough.

Bit Of Luck, who is owned by Michael Goldberg of Toronto, ON, nabbed his third win of the season from 31 trips to the track. The 17-time winner pushed his earnings over $160,000 with the victory.
