Three-year-old pacing filly Wicked Discovery has discovered her niche at The Raceway at Western Fair District.
On Friday night, the Gerard Demers trainee competed in the fillies and mares $20,000 claiming-conditioned class with success for the fifth time in a row while partnered up with driver Travis Henry.
The 1-5 favourite wired the field in the 10th race going for a $5,500 purse, with the fractions clocked in :29.1, :59.2, 1:28.3 and 1:58.2. Queen Of The Deck closed in from the pocket, finishing three-quarters of a length behind, while a first-over Lucy And Ethel was third.
Winless in eight starts as a two-year-old, Wicked Discovery has earned a total of nine victories in her sophomore season from 28 starts to lift her earnings to $38,345 for Demers and co-owner Jean Roch Marois of St-Joachim-De-Shefford, Que. Prior to her current win streak that began on Oct. 18, the McWicked-Pan Voyage filly took a mark of 1:57.1 in her London debut on Oct. 7 after winning three races in a row at Hippodrome 3R during the summer months.
