BJs Bequia scored a victory in the Open Pace at Saratoga Casino and Raceway on Saturday night.
Bruce Aldrich Jr. piloted the eight-year-old Rocknroll Hanover pacer in the $19,250 feature and swung three-wide with him approaching the three-quarter pole while pursuing longshot leader Titus Seelster (Frank Coppola Jr.). BJs Bequia paced past his rivals around the final turn before drawing away to win by two lengths in 1:52.3. City Hall, who raced the majority of the mile on the outside, fought gamely to finish second while Titus Seelster had to settle for third.
The Jose Godinez-trained BJs Bequia returned $10.20 in an evenly bet Open Pace. Aldrich and Godinez have teamed up for more Open wins than any other connections at the Spa this season.
BJs Bequia is owned by Blindswitch Racing Stable, Santo Farina, Stanley Yoskowitz, and David Sebolsky.
