Hey Hey Mama cruised to a 1-1/2-length victory to secure her third straight win in the $39,437 Fillies and Mares Open Pace on Thursday Nov. 20 at Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway.
Hey Hey Mama went by Fearless Ginger (Chris Page) early and controlled the first-half fractions of :26.4 and :56 for Luke Hanners. High Flyin Filly (Brett Miller) was the first to move, sliding out from last and applying mild pressure at three-quarters in 1:24, but Hey Hey Mama found another gear and drew away in the lane to score in 1:51.3. Fearless Ginger finished second, followed by High Flyin Filly.
Virgil Morgan Jr. trains Hey Hey Mama and co-owns the five-year-old mare with Odds On Racing. The daughter of Downbytheseaside-Rolluptherim has amassed 19 lifetime wins and $504,933 in earnings in 67 outings. She paid $2.80 to win.
In the $23,944 conditioned pace, Feetmadefordancin grinded first-over for driver Jeremy Smith to score an upset victory in 1:52.4. Racing For Three (Trevor Smith) timed the gate and was in front first, then allowed Sarasota Hanover (Luke Hanners) to go by from post eight before retaking command near the quarter in :27. Racing For Three was on top to the half in :56.1 but came under duress from Feetmadefordancin, who marched into the breeze to three-quarters in 1:24.3. Feetmadefordancin then pulled away from that rival coming off the last turn and held off Allys Treasure (Tyler Smith) by three-quarters of a length for the 1:52.4 victory. Racing For Three survived a three-horse photo for third.
Feetmadefordancin now has 20 wins in 98 career starts and $292,313 in earnings. The five-year-old Jk Endofanera-Feetonthedashboard mare is trained by Chris McGuire for Johnny Stant. She returned $31.60 at the mutuels.
Three drivers had triples on the 14-race card: Page, Jeremy Smith and Tyler Smith.
Racing continues at Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway on Friday.
