Human remains were discovered this morning (Tuesday, November 21) in a burning vehicle that was found in an area adjacent to an exit road leading away from Woodbine Racetrack.
According to multiple reports, emergency crews received calls of a burning vehicle located near a ravine embankment at roughly 5:00 a.m.
Crews were able to extinguish the fire. The remains were found in the vehicle a short time later. The age and gender of the deceased have yet to be made public.
Sergeant Brett Moore of Toronto Police Service told CP24 at the scene that, “It’s going to take… several more hours until we fully understand what’s going on,” later adding, “What we are looking for is anything that’s happened before the collision so folks that are out there listening that can give us a hand, give us a call at traffic services.”
Along with members of Toronto Police Service's Traffic Services unit, 23 Division, and Criminal Investigations Bureau, the coroner and the fire marshal’s office is also investigating.
