Making his return to Canadian soil as a millionaire after winning the Breeders Crown elimination and finishing fourth in the finale, Logan Park added another feature victory to his extensive resume after he won the $36,000 Preferred Trot on Monday, Nov. 20 at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Doug McNair and the Kyle Fellows student settled into second off the car with Amigo Volo (Tyler Borth) setting the tempo with a :27.2 opening panel. After that station, Logan Park swept to take over the lead. He posted two more panels in :57.3 and 1:26.1 before going on to win by 1-1/4 lengths in 1:53.1. Amigo Volo finished second and Pemberton (Trevor Henry) took the third spot.
Owned by Outofthepark Stable, Reg Higgs and Arpad Szabo, the five-year-old gelded son of Archangel and the Muscle Mass mare Rite Outa The Park moved his seasonal record to 12-3-0 in 20 starts with $348,970 banked. Logan Park sports a new career sum of $1,069,192 with 24 career wins. He returned $2.40 to win as the heavily backed favourite.
Fellows had a triad of training victories on the card after he won with Joe Dimagio (Jody Jamieson) and Royal Regatta (Tyler Jones).
In the second leg of the Harvest Series for Ontario-sired sophomore trotting fillies, Tyler Jones and Cunning Connie rode the pocket trip through panels in :27.2 and :58 before tipping out to battle for the lead en route to the 1:28 three-quarters. Once the Macy Cassell Smyth student found open track, she romped to a 7-1/2-length triumph in 1:56.3. Angeliki (Bob McClure) finished second and Lucy Who (Jean Renaud) completed the triactor.
Cunning Connie (Muscle Mass - Connie Jean) is owned by Joan Cassell and she earned her third seasonal win from 24 starts and fourth career tally. She won in a new lifetime mark as she pocketed the winner's share of the $17,000 purse, summing $62,345 in career earnings. She paid $11.20 to win at 5-1 odds.
The series is for non-winners of $30,000 in 2023 as of Sept. 30.
