Brandon Cs tracked down the popular Woodbine invader, Stan The Man, to take the $7,500 Wayne Bloomfield Memorial Trot, a Preferred 3 event featured on Friday night at The Raceway at the Western Fair District.

The evening's fourth race was named in honour of the late trotting specialist, whose family and friends greeted Brandon Cs in the winner's circle for the blanket presentation.

Favourite Stan The Man came through from the inside post with the lead and fronted the field through a brisk opening quarter in :28 then middle splits of :59 and 1:28.1. Meanwhile, second choice Little Red Chev applied first over pressure with Brandon Cs tracking her cover. Driver Ross Battin then sent Brandons Cs three-wide and swept by Stan The Man with an eighth of a mile to go to prevail by one and three-quarter lengths in 1:59 flat. Thundering Ovation was seated early on and followed in the pocket to finish third. Brandon Cs paid $13.30 to win.

Trainer Janice Annett shares ownership of the Chocolatier gelding with Marjorie Simmons. Brandon Cs has now earned 17 top-three finishes in 27 starts during his six-year-old season, including six wins.

Battin went two-for-two the Friday card, also winning with his own trainee A Kiss To Remember.
