J K Queen Repeats In Fall Classic Series

The Red Shores Fall Classic Series wrapped up on Saturday afternoon at Charlottetown Driving Park with J K Queen winning for the second time in the series

. The series, which featured one $4,666 division on Saturday, is for three and four-year-old PEI foaled trotters that are non-winners of $15,000 lifetime.

Sitting in third position two lengths off the lead at the top of the stretch, J K Queen ($6.00) and trainer-driver Joseph Smallwood kicked home to edge out pacesetter Southfield Sam (Marc Campbell) by a half length in 2:05 over a 'good' track rated one second off. The popular Howmacs Amigo (Terry Gallent) finished one and a half lengths behind in third off a pocket trip. Smallwood also owns and bred the three-year-old Nikes Image-Princetown Lynn filly with Norman Clarey of Charlottetown, P.E.I. She has won three of her 17 starts this year good for $12,024 in earnings.

Driven by Corey MacPherson, Pans O Silver won the afternoon's $2,400 feature pace in 2:00.3 for driver Brodie MacPhee and owner-trainer Alex MacPhee. The win was his seventh in 30 starts this year and pushed his earnings to $15,395.
