Remember The Alamo went gate-to-wire in the $40,000 Open Pace for his fourth top-level victory of the season at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Saturday, Nov. 1.
He pocketed Funtime Bayama (Doug McNair) heading into the first turn with :25.3 speed to the quarter, then put up :54.3 and 1:22.2 middle splits with a push from Century Komodo (Louis-Philippe Roy) approaching the third station. Remember The Alamo rebuffed that rival coming down the stretch and had no trouble sealing the deal by 1-3/4 lengths in 1:49.1. Century Komodo finished well for second, holding off closer Miraculous Desbi N (J.R. Plante).
Remember The Alamo has won two Open-level events in his last three starts, with the defeat coming against a stacked field on Breeders Crown Saturday. The Ben Baillargeon-trained four-year-old tallied his 10th win of the year in 22 starts. Baillargeon, of Guelph, Ont., co-owns the son of Captaintreacherous-Ameraway with Santo Vena of Cedar Valley, Ont., Nunzio Vena of Bolton, Ont., and Frank Cirillo of Kleinburg, Ont. The stallion has amassed 13 wins and $361,758 in earnings in 41 career outings. He paid $5.10 to win.
