Joelsyy Hanover held off a game Timeisonmyside in the lane to take his second straight $39,437 Open Pace on Saturday, Nov. 1 at Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway.
Tyler Smith had Joelsyy Hanover on his toes when the wings folded and grabbed the early lead from The Bird Dance N (Sam Widger) in a :26.2 opening panel. As the field of eight passed the grandstand for the first time, Alta Revelry N (Jeremy Smith) was the first to move, providing cover for Timeisonmyside (Aaron Merriman) at the half-mile station in :55. The pace picked up in the third split as Alta Revelry N advanced and stuck a head in front before the 1:21.2 three-quarters, but Joelsyy Hanover battled back and fought off a passing lane challenge by Timeisonmyside to score in the 1:50 mile by a head. Alta Revelry N held on for third.
Joelsyy Hanover has won back-to-back Opens at the Dayton oval and secured his 28th career win in his 147th lifetime start. The seven-year-old gelded son of Jk Endofanera-Jans Luck has earned $568,470. He is co-owned by trainer Jessica Millner and Andrew Coblentz. The win price was $5.40.
Uncle Jord A and Sam Widger started the evening with a bang when the pair lit up the toteboard at 38-1 in the $22,535 starter allowance pace. The Devils Own N (Brett Miller) cut the fractions of :26.1, :54.3, and 1:21.4, with Uncle Jord A sixth at three-quarters with only one rival beat. As the field spun around the final turn, Uncle Jord A, a 10-year-old son of Rock N Roll Heaven-Serenas Delight, shifted outside and soared down the lane, rolling past the tiring The Devils Own N by a length in 1:51.2. Cheyenne Tuff (Chris Page) used a ground-saving trip for third.
Brian Tatham trains the winner, who is now 32-for-202 with $473,662 in career earnings, for Tatham Racing Stable LLC. The gelding paid $78.80 to win.
Dayton Raceway will host its next card on Tuesday, Nov. 4 with a 14-race program starting at 4 p.m.
