Trainer Danny Romo's pacer Bettor On Than Off prevailed off a pocket trip on Sunday afternoon for a grand slam in Truro Raceway's Winners Over Handicap.
Coming off a career-best 1:54 romp last week, Bettor On Than Off was assigned the outside post seven for his latest Nov. 2 assignment and was the $2,500 feature's 6-5 favourite with Ernie Laffin picking up the catch-drive.
Just to his inside, American Risk (Ryder Matthews Rennison) fired off the gate to establish the lead with Bettor On Than Off landing the pocket trip. In search of his fourth straight win in the top class, Bettor On Than Off put an end to the game of 'follow the leader' after splits of :27.3, :57 and 1:26.2, finding the passing lane and shooting through for the 1:56.4 victory by one length. Freaky Fanny (Darren Crowe) rallied wide from the back to get up for second over American Risk and first-over challenger Bronx Drifter (Robert Laffin).
Bettor On Than Off, a six-year-old gelding by Bettors Delight out of Lights Go Out, has earned half of his 16 career wins this year, improving to 8-5-2 in 22 seasonal starts.
A $2 win wager on Bettor On Than Off returned $4.50.
