Former claimer Just Saucy took her game to a higher level Friday evening at Northlands Park thanks to her 1:57.4 score in the $9,000 Fillies & Mares Open Pace.
With Philip Giesbrecht at the controls, Just Saucy darted to the lead from Post 5 and shelled out fractions of :28, :58.4 and 1:28.3 before using a :29.1 closing panel to win by a half-length margin over Credit Card Junkie in 1:57.4. Third prize was earned by Thats Witty.
Blair Thomas of Red Deer, Alberta bred and owns the five-year-old daughter of Brandons Cowboy-Just Sassy, who was claimed for $12,500 earlier this month. She’s already recovered more than $7,000 in earnings since the acquisition.
