'The Boss' Is Back At Georgian

Having proven himself with an upset victory in the opening leg of the Innisfil Cup Claiming Series at Georgian Downs last week, Boss Man Joe returned to the track on Friday night to score for the second consecutive time in the series – this time as the popular choice

. Revenator captured the other $12,000 second leg division on Friday night.

The Paul Ruhl-trained Boss Man Joe and driver Scott Coulter sat in sixth position for most of the mile before he came flying four-wide around the final turn to take down his rivals in the first second leg division over a 'good' track rated one second off. The son of SJs Photo-Emilys Victory stopped the clock in 2:00.3 with Abs Yankee Rail (Paul MacKenzie) finishing a quarter length behind in second and The Stealth (Robert Shepherd) over three lengths back in third.

Boss Man Joe paid $4.80 to win as the 7-5 favourite. James Ruhl of Tara, Ont. owns the four-year-old gelding, who picked up his fourth win of the season in 29 starts and pushed his 2010 earnings to $23,270.

In the second division, Revenator and Robert Shepherd advanced to the lead from sixth en route to the third quarter mark and kicked away down the stretch to score by five lengths in 1:59.2. West River Tigger (Scott Zeron) rallied from last to place and C J D Sale (Anthony MacDonald) rounded out the top three.

The Travis Umphrey trainee, who finished a close second to Boss Man Joe in his opening leg division, paid $12.00 to win tonight as the 5-1 third choice in his field. Roger McDow of Las Vegas, Nevada owns Revenator, a four-year-old gelded son of Revenue S-Nimble Nan who has won three of his 22 races this year. The lion’s share of the purse pushed his 2010 bankroll to $29,371.

The Innisfil Cup Claiming Series is for trotters that are non-winners of $60,000 lifetime as of Oct. 15, racing for a $15,000 claiming price.
