Even-money favourite Hone The Tone prevailed from the pocket, widening his lead by nearly six lengths when the front-runner ran in the Thursday night (Nov. 18) feature at Woodbine Mohawk Park, a $17,000 conditioned trot.

Leaving from mid-field, Hone The Tone followed L Dees Patrick (James MacDonald) through panels of :28.3 and :57.3 before launching from the pocket at the 1:27 third quarter mark. At the top of the stretch, L Dees Patrick went off stride leaving Hone The Tone to trot off into the night in rein to Sylvain Filion, a four-time winner in the race bike on Thursday.

Trained by Shane Weber, the homebred E L Titan four-year-old has now won back-to-back races in 1:57.2 this month at Mohawk for owners Thomas Rankin and Elizabeth Rankin of St. Catharines, Ont. He's won half of his six starts this year while banking $24,500 after a three-race debut season last year.

Hone The Tone paid $4.20 to win. Stormont Muffin (Jonathan Drury) and GQ Magic (Jody Jamieson) finished second and third, respectively.
