Ole Jack Magic wasted no time grabbing the lead for driver Scott Young in Thursday’s $11,000 Preferred 2 Handicap for trotters at Flamboro Downs, and that tactical approach turned out to be the winning one for the Jerry Duford trainee.
Young pointed Ole Jack Magic to the top from Post 2 and the five-year-old son of Kadabra-Whitesand Electra knifed out panels of :27.3, :57.3 and 1:26.4 before cruising home in :30.3 to win by a length over Delcrest Massy in 1:57.2. Big Rich came first-over on the eventual winner before fading to finish third.
Sent off as the 8-5 favourite, Ole Jack Magic posted his sixth win of the year for Home Stretch Holdings Inc of Rockwood, Ont. The 13-time winner pushed his lifetime earnings over $270,000 with the win.
