Given the unfortunate state of the horse racing industry in Quebec, there will not be any live dashes at Hippodrome de Montreal in the near future. But according to a report, top international rock group U2 is planning on infusing $3 million into the storied facility
.
The infusion of capital from the Dublin-based rockers is not to bolster the facility for racing purposes, but, according to an article by the Montreal Gazette, is to equip Hippodrome de Montreal to be able to hold a crowd between 60,000 to 80,000 for a live show on July 16, 2010.
“It’s unprecedented,” Jacques Aubé, vice-president and general manager of promoter Gillett Entertainment Group, was quoted as saying in the article.
The report also states that after the show, the stadium will be demolished and will become a real estate project.
