The 2022 Dan Patch Award winner as Two-Year-Old Trotting Colt of the Year, Volume Eight will be standing at stud for his first season in 2024.

With a mark of 1:52, Volume Eight was the fastest two-year-old male trotter of the season in 2022. He posted seven wins in his nine freshman starts, banking $432,232, and finished his campaign with five consecutive wins. Those victories included the Valley Victory Stakes and Kindergarten Classic Series final.

Noel Daley trained the colt, and he co-owned the son of Chapter Seven - Lass A Rope with Sjoblom Racing, Joe Sbrocco, LA Express & JAF Racing and Mario Mazza. Patty Key joined the ownership group over the winter.

Daley told Trot Insider in July that Volume Eight was shut down for the year after a suspensory tear but didn't completely rule out a return to racing at that time.

"Suspensory injuries are tough to deal with so I would prefer to get him a stud deal but we operated on him immediately in case I don't get a decent spot for him," said Daley. "We have interest in him, but we have time to try and get the right spot for him. Like Walner, he is a Chapter Seven with a total outcross on his maternal side, which should be desirable."

That interest sparked a deal with Hanover Shoe Farms, who will stand Volume Eight in Pennsylvania in 2024. His stud fee is set at $6,000.
