Dial Or Nodial Prevails In Philly Open

A field of eight Open pacers lined up behind the starter for the featured event from Harrah's Philadelphia on Sunday.

The wagering public put their support behind Bamond Racing's Mach It So, who was victorious against similar company last time out.

At the start, it was Texican N (Ron Pierce) leaving aggressively from the pole position, with Ron Burke trainee Speed Again (Yannick Gingras) showing speed from the outside.

After a contested quarter in :27.1, millionaire pacer Dial Or Nodial (David Miller) pounced on the pacesetters. He cleared the lead and was first to the half (:55.3).

Longshot Abelard Hanover (Brett Miller) mounted a first-over challenge, with Mach It So (Tim Tetrick) looming ominously behind cover at three-quarters (1:23.2).

In the straight, however, Dial Or Nodial had plenty left in the tank, holding off Mach It So in a final time of 1:51 (:27.3). Speed Again finished third.

It was Dial Or Nodial's 32nd career win, as he pushed his seasonal earnings to $57,125 in just his 11th start of 2014. He is leased by Marita Berglund and trained by Christopher Freck. The winner paid $7.40.
