After faltering in last week’s feature, Heineken Seelster ($16.60) bounced back to claim a second win in three starts in Wednesday evening’s (November 15) $9,000 featured trotting event at Flamboro Downs.

With inside starter John Boy off stride at race’s outset, Robert Shepherd was able to put Heineken Seelster in play easily from post 4, only having to clear 1-2 favourite Emmalulu (Alfie Carroll) and Zorgwijk Queen (Scott Young) on the first turn. The four-year-old Federal Flex gelding went on to keep an extended first-over push from Inner Drive (Bob McClure) at bay through splits of :28.4, 1:00.1, and 1:30.3 before edging away on the final turn. Heineken Seelster strode clear by 2-1/4 lengths for a 2:00.4 victory over good going, easily rebuffing an open-stretch bid from Emmalulu off the corner. Pollar Hall (Bruce Richardson) rallied off cover to take third, another neck back.

Heineken Seelster, taken from Ray Bunn in a $12,500 claiming event at London on October 23, has earned $9,000 for new owner Glen Lindsey and new trainer Donald Lindsey. The win was the eighth of Heineken Seelster’s career.
