After a month away from the races, 2024 O'Brien Award winner Taurasi made his return to action during the session of qualifiers on Friday, Nov. 14 at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
With Chris Matthews at the controls. Taurasi sat third and last in his qualifying dash while Brue Hanover (Mark MacKinnon) cut fractions of :29.4, :59.1 and 1:27.3. The sprint was on turning for home, with Matthews angling Taurasi for clear sailing in the stretch. His :27 final quarter was more than enough to collar the pacesetter and hit the wire first in 1:55.1. Brue Hanover was next best, followed by Stone Carver (Anthony Haughan).
Now six, Taurasi (Racing Hill - Voluminous) sports a career summary of 27-14-11 in 79 career starts with a mark of 1:47.2 and more than $827,000 in earnings. Gregg McNair handles the training for Brad Grant of Milton, Ont. and Alagna Racing LLC of Jackson, N.J.
