Vic Kirby waited until late in the stretch to uncork Can Do and the four-year-old came on to score a lifetime-best 1:54.1 victory in the $20,000 Open Handicap Trot on Wednesday, Nov. 13 at Dover Downs.

Last week’s winner, Green Day, rolled out of post eight for Trace Tetrick to take the early lead. Corey Callahan then moved Looking Hanover up going to the half and took the lead before the three-quarter mark. Those two battled it out in the stretch, but Chris Giaccio and trainer/driver Vic Kirby's Can Do overtook the duo to notch his seventh victory of the campaign, lifting his seasonal earnings to $80,360. The Cantab Hall-Meadowbranch Queen gelding has won $151,446 lifetime. Looking Hanover took second with Green Day a close third.

In similar style, Roger Plante drove Walter Callam’s Spunky Jack to a come-from-behind 1:54.4 success in the secondary feature $14,500 3,4&5-Year-Old trot. Skyway Priss (Trace Tetrick) was runner-up with early leader Musclelaneous (Corey Callahan) the show horse.

Kirby and meet leader Corey Callahan had driving doubles.

Nova Artist looks for a repeat victory in the $27,500 Delaware Special, the Thursday feature race.
