Andro Madi made her Flamboro Downs debut a winning one on Wednesday night for the track's meet leading trainer Victor Puddy with a wire-to-wire score in the featured $6,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred 3 Pace.
Jody Jamieson sent the five-year-old bay mare to the lead from post three in the 11th race and carved out fractions of :28.2, :58, and 1:27.1 en route to the 1:57 victory. Andro Madi held off a from-last Machleen and Doug McNair by three-quarters of a length. First over Brushstrokes and Anthony Haughan, the 6-5 favourites, finished right there in third while the rest of the seven-horse field followed nine lengths in arrears.
Since being claimed for $8,125 on Sept. 29 at Rideau Carleton Raceway by Keith Cassell of Smiths Falls, Ont. and joining the Puddy stable, the Quebec-bred Shanghai Phil mare has won four of six starts, including races at Western Fair Raceway and Woodbine Racetrack. Wednesday's win was her 10th of the season in 35 outings and lifted her seasonal bankroll to $41,000.
Andro Madi paid $7.40 to win as the 5-2 third choice.
