Mantario will be gunning for the top prize in the Preferred Pace on Sunday (Nov. 13) at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The Preferred Pace is listed as Race 10 of the 11-dash program with a 12:30 p.m. opening post time.
David Dowling drives Mantario from post two in the $3,500 featured event for the combination of trainer and co-owner Jennifer Doyle and co-owner Danny Birt of Earnscliffe. The Doyle brigade has been razor sharp lately with Mantario rallying from last to finish second to stablemate No Plan Intended in last week’s Preferred. No Plan Intended is not entered to race this weekend and Mantario — with nine on-the-board finishes from his last 10 starts— will look to make the most of it.
Screen Test has rail control for driver Corey MacPherson and trainer Ron Gass. The Alberta Sires Stakes Graduate is a four-time winner in 2022. Stash It Away has been acquitting himself well after making the move from stakes to Open company. Marc Campbell drives the Kevin MacLean trained son of Pang Shui from post four after finishing third in last week’s Preferred.
Spicey P has shown to be a wise purchase by owner Robi Hughes of Stratford, as the son of Up The Credit has post five in the Preferred pace after stringing together four wins, two seconds and a third in his last seven races for trainer-driver Jason Hughes.
The Post Time Picks will go in a different direction as they embrace the driver change to Gilles Barrieau on post three entry Burn Out Hanover as their top selection from the Jeff Holmes barn.
“Burn Out Hanover has put together an awesome year and already has seven wins on his papers. We’re thinking Barrieau will want to call the shots so if he does get to the front, it could seal the deal.”
