Horses trained by Carmen Auciello came out of the blocks very quickly to start the Thursday evening program at Woodbine Mohawk Park, with three of the first four races going to horses donning Auciello’s colours.
Auciello teamed up with driver Jonathan Drury to sweep the Daily Double with newly acquired Importer Exporter (1:58.2) and Spectrum Seelster (1:53.1). That trainer/driver tandem also clicked with the class-dropping Lady Rocknrolla A (1:53.1) in Race 4.
The three-win performance gives Auciello 88 wins so far this season at Woodbine Mohawk Park, which earns him a second-place ranking in the standings behind Richard Moreau (106 wins).
The 2021 season marks the 10th consecutive season that Auciello has celebrated 100 or more wins in a campaign, and his ninth straight year of banking in excess of $2 million in purse earnings.
Drury, who made it 50 wins on the season at the Campbellville, Ont. oval, is closing in on $1 million in earnings this year at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
