Shartin N, the 2019 U.S. Horse Of The Year, qualified impressively on Wednesday morning (Nov. 11) at Dover Downs.
Driver Tim Tetrick sent Shartin N quickly to the top to control fractions of :27.3, :56.4 and 1:24.2 before winning by 18-1/2 lengths in 1:50.1 while under wraps.
Trainer Jim King Jr. was ecstatic and confident after the race. He commented, “Last half in :53.2, last quarter in :25.4. She’s ready.”
When asked about Shartin N’s health, King stated that “she had a quarter crack a while ago,” but from the look on his face, their camp is totally confident that she has fully healed.
Driver and co-owner Tim Tetrick commented, “She’s a pleasure to drive … I’ll be there for her, wherever she goes.” Tetrick also lamented that “she's probably going to have two more races.”
Co-owner JoAnn Looney-King indicated that Shartin N’s future racing plans include “probably the TVG at The Meadowlands and possibly the Matchmaker eligibles race at Yonkers.”
