The hottest three-year-old colt trotter in harness racing is preparing for late-season stakes action against what could be his fiercest foes of the year.

Trainer Jimmy Takter readied some of his stable's stars for their final starts of the season during the qualifying session before the Saturday racing program at the Meadowlands.

Off his victory in the Breeders Crown Three-Year-Old Colt and Gelding Trot, Tactical Landing trotted a 1:55.3 mile with a :27.1 final quarter under guidance from Brian Sears. The Muscle Hill colt trotted the mile in preparation for the $350,000 (est.) TVG Free For All Trot final at the Meadowlands on Saturday, Nov. 24 where he will contest against the sport's top aged trotters.

Another one of Takter's top trotters, Pinkman, followed his stablemate's qualifier with a 1:55.1 time and a :28.2 kicker. Yannick Gingras steered the six-year-old Explosive Matter gelding, who most recently finished fifth in the $500,000 Breeders Crown Open Trot, as he also readies for the TVG Free For All Trot.

On the pacing side Western Fame, with Brett Miller in the bike, held off a late kick from Weona Sizzler A and paced home in :27 to win his qualifier by a neck in 1:51.4. The five-year-old Western Ideal stallion, who last finished fifth in the $500,000 Breeders Crown Open Pace, will be targeted for the $350,000 (est.) TVG Free For All Pace also on Saturday, Nov. 24.

Stablemate Lost In Time, who Takter shut down for the year following a cracked sesamoid bone discovered in early July, returned to the track and qualified as he chased Western Fame from third to finish the mile in 1:52.2. The 2017 frosh colt pacer of the year last raced in the $1,000,000 Pepsi North America Cup final where he finished third.

Takter's double-millionaire pacing mare Pure Country, scratching from a $20,000 Fillies and Mares Preferred Friday at the Meadowlands, showed up for the qualifying session with a 1:52.3 mile capped by a :26.4 final quarter. Takter sat in the bike behind the five-year-old Somebeachsomewhere mare as she readies for the $175,000 (est.) TVG Free For All Mares Pace final. Pure Country raced free-legged for the first time in her career.
