Pocket-sitter Senior Market shot past pacesetter Imsporty in the stretch to win the $11,500 Preferred 2 Pace at Flamboro Downs on Sunday, Nov. 11 in 1:54.3.
The seven-year-old gelding by Blissful Hall secured the two hole from post one while Imsporty dashed for the top from post five. Unchallenged through the mile, Imsporty posted splits of :28, :57.1 and 1:25.3 on the lead while Senior Market tracked from second ahead of favourite Toot Toot N chasing in third. At the head of the lane Senior Market vacated the pocket, lunged at the leader and stuck a head in front on the wire while Toot Toot N finished a length behind in third.
Owned by Steven Titus and Frank Gallo, Senior Market won his fifth race in 28 starts this season and his 21st in 129 overall, earning $183,273. Michael Whelan drove the $14.00 winner for trainer Rebecca Titus.
