Sent off as the 1-2 choice in the $10,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred, Outlaw Spiced Rum made every call — including last call — a winning one. Driver Allan Molloy sent Outlaw Spiced Rum forward from post two and took no prisoners on a rainy Thursday evening. After fractions of :28.1, :58.2 and 1:25.4, Outlaw Spiced Rum kicked home in :28.2 to hold off Outlaw Allie Oops by a length in 1:54.1. In High Cotton (Kelly Hoerdt) rounded out the top trio.
Rod Therres of Langley, B.C. owns and trains Outlaw Spiced Rum (Blue Burner - Billie J Blue Chip), enjoying a career year at the age of six. Now a 17-time winner this season after a winless three-start five-year-old season, Outlaw Spiced Rum is now a 27-time winner in her career. The lioness's share of the purse lifted her earnings over the $150,000 plateau.
Molloy had his picture taken for half of the Thursday races, winning four dashes on the eight-race offering.
