Fans were treated to a pair of Preferred tilts at Western Fair Raceway on Tuesday, and bettors got some bang for their buck if they backed the winners in those

featured events.

My Rebelious Ways earned a narrow decision in the $15,000 Preferred Trot, and he did so as a 6-1 outside for driver Ryan Holiday. The seven-year-old son of CR Renegade-Independent Girl chopped out panels of :29.1, 1:00.3 and 1:30.2 before using a :29.1 final frame to out-sprint race favourite Indiana Hall by a neck in 1:59.3. Chewey was a lapped-on third in the eight-horse affair.

Nick Henry of Mount Forest, ON owns and trains the 18-time winner, who has banked more than $176,000 to date. The gelding improved his 2011 record to 5-3-3 in 25 starts with Tuesday’s score.

Misty Moonstone nabbed top honours in the $12,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred Pace for the second week-in-a-row, and she did so at a bigger price than she did when winning last week’s edition of the class. Trainer/driver Peter Core got away fifth with the OSS graduate before attacking first-over in the final half of the mile. She dug in late and used a :30-second closing quarter to post a half-length tally over race favourite Jinglejanglejingle, with Keepers Destiny another quarter of a length back in third.

Sent off at odds of 5-1, the daughter of Astreos-Access Hollywood won for the tenth time this season and for the 16th time in her career for partners Donald and Heather McGregor of Camlachie, ON. The classy campaigner has stashed away close to $80,000 this season and more than $261,000 in her career.
