Northside Downs (click here for results) offered a 16-race card and Maritime sensation Abby Best was tons the best in the $900 Winners Over - The Robert Leyte Memorial, crushing her foes by 12 lengths in a time of 1:58 for driver Red Doucet and trainer-owner Angus MacLean. The win was her 40th lifetime and 15th on the campaign, and was just four-fifths off the her own track record - over a track that was rated two seconds off.
Trainer Heather Hawkins also scored a training triple on the day, notching wins with Lite The Way in Race 3, Electric Prince in Race 5 and Lexus Bandito in Race 10.
In Newfoundland at St. John's Racing And Entertainment Centre (results here), Lady Jessie was a 2:06.4 winner in the $775 Preferred Pace, named the Ronald Gerard Brewer Memorial Pace. Scott Mac Roberts engineered the near 13 length spanking for trainer Gord Fleming and owner Charmaine Fleming of Mount Pearl,NL.
