Pearl Of Capri and Whosgoinwhostayin each face their third challenge towards a $100,000 bonus payoff Wednesday at Pompano Park.
Both horses compete in $14,350 divisions of the Florida Sale Stakes for two-year-old trotters Wednesday. If they can win their separate divisions, they would be just one win away from reaping the $100,000 bonus for winning all four Florida Sire Stakes finals from the Florida Standardbred Breeders and Owners Association and Pompano Park.
Pearl Of Capri is featured in the second division for two-year-old fillies. The daughter of Famously is on a seven-race winning streak for breeder/owners Frank and Inge Smith of Deerfield Beach. Pearl Of Capri is trained by Veral Bowman and starts from Post 3 for driver Dan Clements.
The first division features Wally Jean from Post 2 for driver Mickey McNichol. The filly by Wewering has won three of her last four starts and faces a tough challenge from rivals Over Drawn and Parsley Sprig.
Undefeated Whosgoinwhosstayin puts his nine-race winning streak on the line in the second division of the Florida Sale Stakes for two-year-old trotting colts and geldings. The bay gelding by Basil was sensational in his last start, slipping and going off-stride at the start on a sloppy track, he spotted the field 15 lengths before he got back into the hunt. Driver Mickey McNichol kept the trotters on the bit, caught the field, collared the race leader in mid stretch and won by one length.
Bred and co-owned by Sophia Valkanoff with trainer Linda Kakaley of Pompano Beach, Whosgoinwhostayin starts from Post 3 in going for his tenth straight win.
In the first division for colts and geldings, Hard Workn Rick and driver Richard Simard start from Post 5 and take on Super Railee and J S Victory.
