A pair of $9,500 conditioned pace classes headlined the Wednesday (Oct. 9) evening card at Flamboro Downs with The Vicar clicking the faster final time of 1:53.1 in his class.
The Vicar and trainer/driver Tyler Moore left from post seven and faced a battle with Sportsline (Todd Ratchford) through the opening quarter in :27.1. The Vicar took command and never looked back, setting the half in :55.4 and three-quarters in 1:24.2 before opening up to win by 2-1/2 lengths in 1:53.1. Palladium Hanover (Travis Cullen) took second over Sportsline.
Glb Stable owns the sophomore gelded son of Artspeak-St Lads Billiejean. The Vicar moved his seasonal tally to 9-4-0 in 16 starts. He sits just $951 shy of six-figure earnings for the season, pushing his career earnings to $103,782 with 12 career wins in 20 starts. As the bettors' choice, he returned $3.70 to win.
The second $9,500 conditioned pace was taken by Triple S Equine's Smooth Lou ($5.30) and driver Samuel Fillion for trainer Thomas Riley with a three-length victory in 1:54.
