Luciano N, winless since coming to North America early in the summer, finally hit the high note on Sunday at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono, going wire-to-wire in 1:51.2 to take the $18,000 featured pace.
The altered son of Bettors Delight, second in three of his last four starts, made every pole a winning one for driver Bill Mann, stepping home in :55.1 – :27.2 to win by one and a quarter lengths. Mitchell MacKenzie trains the imported Kiwi, now a winner of $73,700 for Boss Racing USA.
In the companion $18,000 feature for trotters, Silvermass Volo closed from last after the half, making a big sweeping move and running down pacesetting Zagster by a head in a 1:54.3. The Muscle Massive ridgling, handled by Pocono’s “Trot Man” Mike Simons, missed his personal best, taken here on August 27, by a tick in triumphing for trainer/driver Michael Holcman, whose trotter raised his bankroll to $82,245.
