Tornado Tim toyed with the foes he faced in Thursday’s $11,000 Preferred Trot at Flamboro Downs, and in doing so he pushed his winning streak to three in a row.
Trainer/driver Danny O’Brian got away fourth with Tornado Tim while Osprey Vision marched to the lead and sliced out fractions of :28.2, :59.1 and 1:28.4. O’Brien came first-over with Tornado Tim on the way to the half, and the gelding gradually chipped away at the leader. Tornado Tim gained a short lead turning for home before using a :29.3 closing panel to win by 2-3/4 lengths over Justasmalltowngirl in 1:58.2. Osprey Vision weakened late and settled for third prize.
Everette Hanson of Maugerville, New Brunswick owns the seven-year-old son of Revenue S-Cyclone Annie. The victory was his eighth of the season and the 26th in his career. The $5,500 payday pushed his lifetime earnings in excess of $200,000.
Lexis D J turned a two-hole trip into a 1:58.2 victory in the $7,000 Preferred 3 for trotters. Scott Coulter worked out the beautiful trip with the 6-5 favourite, and the gelding drew clear to win by 1-3/4 lengths over JJ Rock. Third prize went to Euro Classic.
Shane Arsenault of Freelton, Ontario owns and trains the seven-year-old son of Amigo Hall-Lexus Lulu who won for the third time this year. The 29-time winner has banked more than $360,000 to date.
