Millionaire three-year-old trotting colt Endurance has been retired from racing and will stand stud in 2027.
Super Endurance Stable, Bill Manes, Leo Fleming and Mark Moger, owners of Endurance, 2,1:52.3m, 3,1:51.3f ($1,221,356), announced on Thursday, Oct. 8 that the Captain Corey-Love Session colt will begin his stallion duties in Ohio in 2027 at Hickory Lane Horse Farm.
"Endurance is the first and richest son of the prolific young trotting stallion, Captain Corey, to retire to stud in Ohio, which is one of the richest and most diverse regional racing programs in North America," stated Kevin Greenfield, Syndicate Manager. "Being a son of Captain Corey makes him the ideal outcross stallion for every major maternal trotting family in the sport. His maternal family is anchored by the top foundation mare, Ens Tag Session, who consistently produced tough and durable high grade stakes money-earning performers over many years, which include Triumphant Caviar [$811,547] Prayer Session [$777,990] and world champion Centurion ATM [$731,374].
"Endurance was aptly named as he was well known during his racing career as displaying extraordinary determination, unwavering grit and an unmatched will to win, which will undoubtedly be passed on to his offspring," said Greenfield. "Even though he unfortunately sustained an injury in the Hambletonian, everyone witnessed his immense potential on the racetrack."
His trainer, Chris Beaver, commented: “Endurance is the finest racehorse I have ever trained.”
At age two, Endurance won six of his eight starts and set a 1:54.3 track record for two-year-old trotting colts at Oak Grove in only his second lifetime start in a Kentucky Sire Stakes. He won three preliminary leg divisions and the $555,556 final of the Kentucky Championship Series at The Red Mile and finished his two-year-old season a close second to Apex in the Mohawk Million while earning $768,589.
At age three, he finished first or second in six of his seven starts with the Hambletonian being the only time that he did not finish top two while earning an additional $452,767. His victories included a division of the Grade 3 Stanley Dancer Memorial and a career-best 1:51.3 triumph in an elimination of the Oak Grove Trotting Derby. He finished second by a nose to the eventual Hambletonian champion Apex in their 1:50.4 elimination.
"It is unquestionable that Endurance has all the necessary qualities to become a premier trotting stallion in the sport when you combine his great racing record with his speed, tenacity, outstanding pedigree and his conformation," said Greenfield. "It is anticipated that he will be an extremely popular and appealing stallion prospect for all commercial breeders."
Endurance will stand for an introductory service fee of $6,000 USD and is currently being syndicated.
