Trotting mare Unica Donna IT brought the highest price of the 77 Hips sold in the Lexington Mixed Sale on Saturday night (Oct. 8).
A nine-year-old daughter of Donato Hanover, Unica Donna IT only registered starts outside of the U.S., earning $115,848. She has foaled four offspring including Una Madonna (pictured above), who won the Jim Doherty Memorial elimination earlier this year. Unica Donna IT, Hip 939 and consigned by Preferred Equine, sold for $250,000 to Cindy Stewart of Paris, Ky.
Cindy Stewart also purchased the next largest sale of the session in Avalonia, Hip 924 and consigned by Preferred Equine. As a racehorse, she won three times from 23 tries and earned $58,161 but has since foaled two unraced offspring. The six-year-old daughter of Muscle Hill left the ring for $110,000.
Lindys Lullaby, Hip 977 consigned by Preferred Equine, went for the third-highest price when selling for $80,000 to Robert Lindstrom of Boden, Sweden. The unraced 10-year-old daughter of Cantab Hall has foaled four offspring, two of which currently race — Kentucky Commonwealth champ Rock A Bye Lindy and Proud To Be Lindy, the latter an earner of over $100,000.
A stallion share in Muscle Hill, Hip 919, brought $75,000 when selling to Euro Stall SE of Berlin, Ohio. My Nay Nay, Hip 957, rounded the five highest-priced sales of the session when leaving the ring for $75,000. The two-year-old daughter of Captaintreacherous sold as part of the Buckstone Land Livestock dispersal to Thaddeus Wier of East Aurora, N.Y. She has won once from nine starts and earned $32,600.
From 77 auctions, sales grossed in the mixed session to $2,721,000 for an average of $33,183.
