Ongoing Royalty got his fourth-straight win in taking the featured $7,500 trot at Vernon Downs on Saturday night (Oct. 8).
Beyond Kronos was first to the quarter in :27.4. He used a :30.2 second quarter to be first to the half in :58.1. Ongoing Royalty made his move first over heading to the final turn and battled with Beyond Kronos all the way around the final turn. Ongoing Royalty led to three-quarters in 1:26.2.
As they made the turn for home, Ongoing Royalty and Beyond Kronos continued to slug it out. Ongoing Royalty broke free and won in 1:55.1. Southwind Falcon came up to finish second. Beyond Kronos had to settle for third.
Ongoing Royalty is a five-year-old gelding by Royalty For Life. He is trained by Jack McNeil for owners Phillip Trudeau and Fannie Saul-Beaulieu. It was his fifth win this season and his 10th victory overall. Steeven Genois drove the $8 winner.
Driver John MacDonald drove four winners on the card. MacDonald combined with trainer Jessica Okusko for wins with Valentine Express ($3.70), and Rock On Express ($5.60). He won his other two with trainer Jessica Hines, getting victories with Sgt Papa Daddy ($5.10), and Adagio De La Tour ($3.00).
