Trainer Kelly Hoerdt dominated the Wednesday (Oct. 7) card at Fraser Downs, winning four of the evening's 10 races — and driving three of those winners as well.
The cornerstone of Hoerdt's training grand slam was the $5,800 optional claiming feature — in which his trainees swept the exactor. Armycaptin Hanover ($3.60) and catch driver Scott Knight parried sustained pressure to register a 1:53.4 victory, while stablemate Thankyaverymuch — whom Hoerdt drove himself — rallied off cover to take second. The featured win was Armycaptin Hanover's third in six starts for Hoerdt, who claimed the son of Captaintreacherous with Blair Corbeil for $9,500 in August. The four-year-old gelding now has won 10 times in his career.
Hoerdt's other three wins on the program came with Wits Beach ($2.30, 1:56), Thinkingofyoubabe ($4.00, 1:55.4) and Good Day Is Coming ($4.00, 1:55.3).
