The CC Stables' Stature Seelster ($8.60) held his ground in the Thanksgiving Day (Oct. 8) feature at Truro Raceway, parrying a challenge from pocket rival String Busters for a 1:56.4 win in the $1,675 winners-over pace, his second straight.
Kirk Parris landed the six-year-old Artistic Fella gelding on the point from post 3, and the pair controlled sectionals of :28.3, :58.1 and 1:26.3 over fast going while pursued intently by String Busters (Ernie Laffin). On the final turn, String Busters angled out and worked nearly into level pegging with the pacesetter at the eighth pole, but Stature Seelster dug in to protect the lead and prevailed by 1-1/4 lengths. Odds-on favourite Only One Star (Danny Romo) gave chase mildly to finish third.
Chris Covin trains Stature Seelster, who earned his 26th career win and ninth of the season.
