Outside The Wire was put right on the point by driver Gilles Barrieau and the duo held off challengers to win the Thursday night feature in 1:57.1 at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The six-year-old son of Grinfromeartoear-Gosroundcomeround led through panels of :27.4, :57.4 and 1:27.4 before finishing off his foes with a :29.2 kicker. Outside The Wire held off Oh To Be Me by three-quarters of a length, with Perfect Escape rounding out the top three finishers.

Barrieau enjoyed a grand-slam with four winners on the night. The New Brunswick driver is racking up the victories as he teams up with MacQuarrie’s Meats in the annual Drive for Charity promotion to raise money for the local food bank. The campaign continues until the end of the month.

Diamond Mine streaked to victory in the opening trot class for driver Willie Murphy, trainer Cindy MacDonald and her co- owner Tanya MacKinnon of Souris, PE. The other trot challenge went to Neal in a dazzling performance for driver Brian Andrew and co-owner William Andrew of Calgary, AB.
