Standardbreds faced starter Dale Milby for the first time in over a year this morning at Rosecroft Raceway

.

Six races, two featuring trotters, went postward and the quickest mile was turned in by True North Hanover, who went down the road scoring in 1:56 off a :57 opening half.

Six pacers broke the two minute barrier besides the above-mentioned True North Hanover and almost 90 per cent of the starters met the qualifying standards at Rosecroft for the fall 2011 meeting.

Horsemen were thrilled to be back at the “Raceway by the Beltway” and many praised the track crew, led by Dan Herbst, for the outstanding job done on the once dormant track, which allowed the quick times and safe miles.

Rosecroft will qualify next on Wednesday, October 12 at 10 a.m. and the box for this qualifier will open at 10 a.m. and close at noon on Tuesday, October 11.

Rosecroft’s final pre-live meet qualifier will be held on Tuesday night October 18 with a first post of 6:45 p.m. This will be a dry run for the live meet and patrons will be able to pickup a free program of the qualifiers that evening. The box for this qualifier will open at 10 a.m. and close at noon on Monday, October 17.

Live racing will kick off Friday, October 21 with a Friday and Saturday night schedule through December 3, with Thursdays added through December 17. First race nightly is 6:45 p.m.

Horsemen are reminded that they need a copy of their current coggins in their possession when they enter the backside at Rosecroft unless they have already given the race office a copy. In addition each participant needs to fill out and return a Release and Waiver before entering the backside and they’ll also need to fill out a 2011 Racing Application before entering in overnights. This paperwork is available at the website of the Cloverleaf Standardbred Owners Assocation.
