Powering by at the end of the mile, Goodmorning Nova opened up to win the Atlantic Breeders Crown Consolation for two-year-old pacing fillies on Saturday, Oct. 7 at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Gilles Barrieau supplied the textbook steer in the $7,500 two-year-old pacing filly consolation for the 2023 Atlantic Sires Stakes season winning by three lengths from a pocket ride in 1:57 for trainer Dwane MacEachern and owners Melissa Banks and Jason Williams. Chip Of Evil (Driven by Corey MacPherson) cut the mile and had to settle for second with Lady Willa (Colin Sheppard) third.
Rosetown Mary (MacPherson) circled up to win the $7,500 three-year-old pacing filly consolation in 1:57.1 over Royoz Allie (Ken Murphy) and Stonecold Girl (David Dowling). MacPherson trains the winner for Lisa Richards, Taylor MacPherson and Kerry and Emily Taylor.
Woodmere Denny was a popular winner in the $7,500 three-year-old pacing colt consolation with a 1:55.1 score over Fern Hill Hero (Dowling) and JJ Landon (Barrieau). Dale Spence drove Woodmere Denny for his wife, owner-trainer MacKenzie Spence.
Little Leroy (MacPherson) was the best in the two-year-old pacing colt consolation winning in 1:58 from the Joe Baxter barn for owner Boyd MacDonald Produce Ltd. Resuscitate (Paul Langille) was second at 25-1 while Dunsan Harry (Barrieau) was third.
Tobins Brownie ($2.60) was a wire-to-wire winner in the MacRae Memorial Open Pacing Mares Consolation, tripping the timer in 1:56.1 for trainer - driver David Dowling and Springvale, P.E.I.-based owners Brittany Dowling, Sandra Weeks and Erroll Burgoyne. Therealprincess (Mitch Downey) and You Aint Dolly (Kenny Arsenault) rounded out the top trio.
