Dropping out of stakes competition, So Much More picked up where she left off back in the Fillies & Mares Open ranks that she dominated throughout the summer at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

The popular Don Beatson-trained millionaire won Friday's $33,000 feature for distaffers in 1:50.2 with regular reinsman James MacDonald between the wheels.

Shes Nun Bettor N (Doug McNair) fired off the gate from the outside post six with Western Wish (Louis-Philippe Roy) hot on her heels heading into the first turn. Western Wish pressed on past the :27 quarter to take over command and then accelerated away to a three-length lead down the backstretch on the way to the half in :55.

After getting away fourth from the inside post, So Much More launched her attack in the final turn with Voelz Delight (Sylvain Filion) following the cover as Western Wish maintained a clear lead past three-quarters in 1:23.

However, So Much More reeled in the leader down the stretch and got by in the final eighth to score her 53rd career victory. Closing outside, Voelz Delight made it within a neck of the winner, with Western Wish settling for third.

So Much More entered Friday's assignment off a fifth-place finish in the $230,000 Milton Stakes on Sept. 17 following a third in the eliminations.  Prior to that, the Big Jim-Ladysai mare won five Preferred/Open races in a row this summer at Mohawk.

Sent postward as the 1-2 favourite, she paid $3.10 to win and $2.10 to place. There was no show wagering.

So Much More now boasts a dozen wins along with nine other top three finishes from 27 starts and $283,370 in earnings this year for Beatson and partners Kenneth Beatson of Palgrave, Ont., and Cole England of Exeter, Ont.
