Shartin N Celebrates Allerage Triumph

Caviart Ally laid down all of the speed in the Allerage Farms Fillies & Mares Open Pace, but race favourite Shartin N tracked her down late and posted an impressive victory in the $98,500 contest.

Fresh off her sweep of this year’s Milton Stakes at Mohawk Park, Shartin N watched Caviart Ally hustle the field through hot, first-half fractions of :26.3 and :54.3 before going on the attack. The first-over pressure was applied on Caviart Ally around the final turn, and they were together at the three-quarter pole in 1:21.3. Shartin N gradually wore down Caviart Ally and went on to post the win in 1:48.1. Caviart Ally was next best, with Pure Country shaking loose late to finish third.

“She’s got big lungs,” driver Tim Tetrick said after the race. “We got her off the gate good today but then going into the backside she kind of jammed up and I had to move her. She’s used to sitting on the outside so I wasn’t too worried especially when I could head Andrew’s mare [Caviart Ally]; I knew my mare was going to give me a good run.”

Jim King, Jr. trains the five-year-old daughter of Tintin In America-Bagdarin for partners Richard Poillucci and Joann Looney King. It was the 16th win of the season – and the 22nd to date – for the career winner of $941,780.
