Coz And Effect ($8.80) was successful in chasing down his stablemate Silent Rescue to take Sunday afternoon's (Oct. 7) $5,100 featured pacing event at The Track On 2 and provide trainer Gary Clark with a training hat-trick.
Tyler Redwood got Coz And Effect away in fifth from post 5, eight lengths behind early pacesetter Silent Rescue (Gary Clark) through a :29.3 first quarter. Up the backstretch, the four-year-old Mystery Chase gelding began his uncovered ascent, passing horses through the far turn to take second from a gapping Nighttraintovegas (Mike Hennessy) on approach to three-quarters in 1:29.3.
Still five lengths behind his stablemate with a quarter to go, Coz And Effect dug in off the home turn and just reeled in Silent Rescue by a neck in 1:59.1 over good going. Tolly Ho (Rod Hennessy) chased the winner's cover to finish third, three lengths back.
Coz And Effect earned his fourth seasonal win and the eighth of his career for owner-trainer Clark, who won earlier dashes with Budgie Smuggler (Race 1, 2:04.3, $4.20) and Rocket Power (Race 4, 2:02.2, $13.80).
