It has been reported that Turkmenistan’s equine-loving president has ordered the creation of a monument to honour the horse of one of the Asian state’s past leaders.
A report by the BBC explains that Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has ordered that a monument of the horse, Fiery Mountain, to be built and displayed in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan.
Berdimuhamedov and Turkmenistan have made equine news over the years due to a state-ordered horse beauty pageant, forcing government staff to attend races, and a rather serious spill which garnered international media coverage this past spring.
