EL Rock, who won the $75,000 Charles I. Smith in September, added the $40,000 New Jersey Futurity for three-year-old trotters to his stakes credits on Friday
, October 7 at Freehold Raceway.
The gelded son of Yankee Glide was driven by George Brennan and held on for a neck victory over the hard-charging Tayas Photo, one of three fillies in the field. It was two and three-quarter lengths back to Winuendo, who had the lead before giving way to EL Rock at the half.
The mile was timed in 1:59.2 after splits of :29.3, 1:00 and 1:29.2.
EL Rock has four wins in 12 starts this year for ACL Stuteri AB of Paris, Kentucky. Anette Lorentzon trains the trotter.
EL Rock, who was sent off as the 6-5 favourite, returned $4.60, $3.20, $2.60 across-the-board prices.
