Hawthorne Race Course will offer a unique setting at the track with Twilight Racing on October 9 and 16
.
The twilight races, which have never been done before in Chicago, will have first posts at 5:30 p.m. This Friday, new and seasoned race fans are invited to get lucky under the lights, and enjoy live music by the band, Sun Fallen and one of Chicago’s biggest outdoor barbecues.
For fans just discovering the game, “Twilight racing is a terrific introduction to the excitement of live racing,” said fourth generation president and general manager of Hawthorne, Tim Carey. “Because thoroughbreds traditionally run during the day it’s hard for new fans to often make it to the track. Racing on Friday night is going to be an incredible opportunity to witness the truly fast-paced, in-your-face action of horseracing.”
In the Grandstands the track is featuring $1 TGI Friday specials: $1 beers, $1 hot dogs, $1 admission, and $1 race programs. The first 500 fans through the gate beginning at 4:30 will receive a FREE YouBetIllinois.com baseball cap.
But for fans looking for a more upscale racing experience, the course will offer VIP status with a party in its exclusive Turf Club on October 9th. The classic sports club room features over 50 high-definition flat panel TVs and an indoor terrace featuring panoramic views of the track from the third floor. The VIP Turf Club Party package includes admission, a program, a 3 ½ hour house bar and a buffet package for $35.00 per person.
