On a night in which the New York Yankees lost Game 1 of the ALDS to their long-time rivals, the Boston Red Sox, it was ironic to see Newyorknewyork Deo in the role of Friday’s fourth session of the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale.
Selling as Hip 475, Newyorknewyork Deo went to the Andy Miller Stable for $110,000. The son of Chapter Seven-Doris Deo has a pair of $100,000-winning siblings – Mavens Way (1:51.4 - $141,724) and Maximus Deo (1:55.3 - $136,929).
Canadian owner Ben Mudry collared Hip 600 Lady Titan for $85,000. The daughter of E L Titan-Ally Oop is a half-sister to Seven And Seven (1:54.1 - $347,016) and Blonde Magic (1:54 - $163,596).
Dave Menary nabbed Hip 470 Watch Me Boogie for $40,000. The daughter of Hes Watching-Dance Until Dawn is the half-sister to speedball Beach Boogie (1:49.4 - $171,314.
Session 4 of the sale saw 159 yearlings go through the ring for total sales of $3,698,000. That works out to an average sale price of $23,258 – by far the lowest average of the four completed sessions.
Ontario sires were once again well represented in the ring with sons and daughters of Kadabra (10 in total) being the most popular of the Ontario-sired offerings. Muscle Mass (7), Bettors Delight (5), Sunshine Beach (5), Sportswriter (4), Mach Three (4) and Hes Watching (4) were among the Ontario sires with three or more yearlings offered in the third session.
The sale, held as usual at the Fasig-Tipton Pavilion in Lexington, KY concludes Saturday evening at 7 p.m.
